What is plagiarism?
Answer
Plagiarism is passing off another person's thoughts and ideas as your own and using them in your paper without proper credit. If you copy and paste whole sentences and paragraphs from a published article without quotation marks or citing the author, that is plagiarism. Changing words and paraphrasing without citation is also considered plagiarism.
Plagiarism is a form of cheating. A student caught having committed plagiarism can fail a course. A third violation can result in suspension from the college, according to the MSMC Student Handbook.
