What if the Kaplan Library doesn't have the book or article I need, can I get it from another library? What is Interlibrary Loan or ILL?

Answer

ILL (pronounced EYE, EL, EL) or Interlibrary Loan is the process by which you ask for material from other lending libraries and, if available, will be sent to the Kaplan Library for you to pick up. Follow this link to make a request through the interlibrary loan service (ILLiad). Find out more with our interlibrary loan guidelines.

Before you request an article - The majority of articles requested through ILL are available through one of our databases or Google Scholar. Save yourself some time and search the title on Google Scholar or the library's Citation Search first!

How long does it take for items to be delivered? Articles in PDF format can take a couple of days (which you will be able to retrieve electronically), books and DVDs maybe a week or more since they have to be processed and shipped. You will be notified by email.

Does is cost anything? Generally, the service is free unless the lending library adds a charge.

You can also request a purchase if can't be found through ILL. Please note that suggested purchases (usually books) are not automatic and will be reviewed individually.
